I just love the 4th of July and celebrating with family and friends.
We usually gather at my house and grill out and swim the day away. Then we head to see the fireworks either at the Fort Walton Beach Landing or over the East Pass in Destin.
One year I took the family on the Seablaster and we sat out in the Harbor and watched the fireworks explode over us and got to enjoy the beautiful view of the Harbor at night.
Then, as an added surprise, they took out out into the Gulf and we got to enjoy the moonlight on the water. We could see lots of fireworks all along the beaches as various condo complexes held their own celebrations. It was fabulous!
The Seablaster is will be cruising this 4th of July, so give them a call for pricing and reservations!
I thought I would share a few events that I found on the calendar in case you are looking for ways to celebrate the 4th of July in Destin & Fort Walton Beach.
Landing in Fort Walton Beach
As I mentioned earlier my family usually always went to the Landing in Fort Walton Beach.
They are again having their 4th of July Celebration beginning at 4:00 Pm – 10:00 PM with an awesome fireworks display beginning around 9:15 PM to mark the end of the evening.
Please be sure to bring chairs or blankets to get comfortable and go early to find that special viewing spot.
There will be lots of fun activities for kids of all ages including a bike parade for ages 2-10. Great music and entertainment and quick eats.
Destin Commons “Smoke on the Coast”
Destin Commons “Smoke on the Coast” annual event will be Tuesday night, July 2nd from 7:00 until 9:00 PM out at Destin Commons.
Talk about some great BBQ by some of the area’s best and then enjoy the fireworks.
Celebration in the Park
On Wednesday, July 3rd, the city’s “Celebration in the Park” will get underway at the Morgan Sports Center with the annual Destin Bike Parade beginning at 6:30 PM.
This year’s parade will include bikes, strollers, wagons, etc. all decked out in red, white and blue to show the patriotic significance of the parade, and is geared towards children ages 14 and under.
There will also be bounce houses for the younger ones to enjoy and keep busy.
In addition to the parade, there will also be opportunities for games, chalk drawings, and a live concert on the lawn at the Center by Chuck Lawson.
Be sure to bring your own lawn chairs and or blankets and hunker down and get comfortable because at the close of the event there will be a spectacular fireworks show.
So sorry no pets allowed….
Destin Fireworks
Destin’s Annual Fireworks Over East Pass is on Thursday, July 4th, on the Destin Harbor, and will have coordinating music playing on Z96.5 during the show.
The show is set to begin at 9:00 PM but there is so much happening all the time in Harborwalk Village that you might want to go early and enjoy the music, shops, dining, and people watching.
Trust me, you can’t possibly get bored at Harborwalk Village.
I hope that you will enjoy a wonderful 4th of July along the Emerald Coast with your family and/or friends, but be sure to be safe!
Also please take time to remember the reason we celebrate this holiday and remember those who fought for our freedom and those who continue to defend our freedom.
May God continue to bless the United States of America!
