Life is great at the beach and we are still enjoying temperatures in the lower 70s in Destin. I do enjoy this weather but it always makes the upcoming holidays seem a bit incandescent. I guess our market could be described as such too!
Our latest market statistics are ready and we would be happy to forward a copy to you. Along the Emerald Coast (YTD) we have seen an overall increase in the number of properties sold, and a decrease in the amount of distressed properties sold. The following is a snapshot.
This year 5005 homes have sold which is a 14% increase over last year. Homes priced between $150,000 – $250,000 are our biggest sellers. However, homes priced above $2,000,000 had the largest percent increase with 77 total sold.
Of the 5005, only 1,022 were short sales or foreclosures making it a 9% decrease over last year. We are selling more homes and less of these are distressed. A strong indicator of a stable market.
In the condominium sales we have closed 1,792. This is an 8% increase over last year. Condos priced around $300,000 show the strongest sales. Short sales and foreclosures total 302 of the these sales with a 29% decrease as compared to last year. Just like home sales, we are selling more condos, and less of these are distressed properties.
